March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. In this Legal Tip Tuesday, Anne Parys and Peter Gough discuss how concussions can occur even without a direct blow to the head and what symptoms to watch for after an accident.
So, who should I consult to get diagnosed for this? Um, unfortunately, some of the more common places you go for, um, uh, for initial treatments aren’t equipped to really diagnose or treat concussions. There’s certain visual tests that can be performed to diagnose a concussion. So, what I suggest is you go to your PCP, explain that you’ve getting these symptoms after uh, stopping suddenly or hitting your head, and you should be referred to a concussion clinic. There’s several wonderful programs and facilities in in in Western Pennsylvania which deal specifically with concussions and traumatic brain injuries.
