Social Security Disability Vs. Supplemental Security Income

Today we’re talking about the difference between SSI (Supplemental Security Income) and SSD (Social Security Disability). The main factor that separates the two is work history. So if you haven’t worked much, or sporadically, you’re going to apply for Supplemental Security Income. And then if you have a long work history and you’ve been paying into Social Security Disability through your FICA tax, you’re going to apply for SSD. Many people apply for SSD when they come see me, but come to QuatriniRafferty, we’ll talk about it. There’s many nuances and we can either apply you for one or both.
