If you have filed a claim in the past, you should request a copy of your VA Compensation File for your records. Your Claims File or C File contains everything the VA has to make decisions about your benefits.

If you have not filed a claim in the past, you can still request your service records.

Working with disabled veterans, Quatrini Law Group has seen many service men and women find errors or omissions in their C-File. Requesting your copy is the first step to ensure the VA has the proper personal information, service records, medical reports and evidence.

How to Request Your VA Compensation File

If you have filed a Claim with the VA in the past, you want to request your Claims File. To access your C File, you must submit the VA Form 20-10206 via mail, email or fax.

Mail to: DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRSCLAIMS EVIDENCE INTAKE CENTER
PO BOX 4444
JANESVILLE, WI 53547-4444

Email: vbarmc@va.gov

Fax to: 1-844-531-7818

How to Request Your Service Records

If you have not filed a claim with the VA in the past, it may still be prudent to review your military records. To access your military records, you must submit the Standard Form (SF) 180.
